That common reactant in most plastic bags at the grocery store or the wrap you'll use to cover leftovers is PE! It has some bend to it, and isn't brittle. PE works well for water bottles, plastic bags and food wrap. Think of it as a stretchy friend: it can cover and protect things.
HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is the third type of plastic. This is also a strong plastic that can withstand extremely hot or cold temperatures. HDPE is used for pipes, large tanks and even trash cans. It’s a super tough plant that thrives under hardship. You can visualize HDPE as a pipe that transmits water, but does not break, or a trash can that can remain out in the sun or rain.
It’s plastic that allows us to produce so many things we touch every day. From the toys we play with to the bottles we drink from, these specialty plastics surround us.
