pe and pp material

At Yuezheng we create a lot of cool products from various types of plastic. Moreover, plastic is ubiquitous around us! PE AND PP are two specific plastics that are often used by us. Now, let’s briefly understand how these plastics are special and what are their differences.

PE means polyethylene. It’s the flexible and bendy plastic we use to make plastic bags, food wrap and squeeze bottles. (If you’re wondering, PE stands for polyethylene — think the plastic bag you grab at the grocery store!) It is flexible plastic which can stretch and move. Picture this: PE is working its magic like a plastic bag you scrunch up and finally release.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of PE and PP Material

PP means polypropylene. This plastic is tougher and stronger than PE. What we make with PP includes vehicle components, large storage containers, and some toys. But if you scan your kitchen, you may find PP in food containers or bottle caps. PP is used where better reheatings resistances than PE are necessary, owing to its good performance in keeping heat.

Now, let’s take a peak inside these plastics! PE consists of long, billions of chain tails of tiny carbon bits. PP has shorter marshalled carbon chains. Hence why PP is sturdier and more heat resistant. PE is like a long stretchy rope and PP is like a thick strong rope.
