Ever wondered what makes the containers that hold your milk and your water truly unique? I’ve mentioned low density polyethylene, also known as PE. This incredible plastic is found all over the world and it has some amazing properties that make it extremely useful!
PE is something of a superhero of plastics. Think of a plastic bottle or another significant charging unit - its weight is nothing! PE is also capable of bending and twisting without snapping. Which is just why it’s ideal for glasses of your favorite drinks and bowls of your favorite snacks.
Companies like making containers from PE, as it's moldable to nearly any size. Are you interested in a tiny water bottle or a large milk jug? PE can do that! It’s also very good at keeping what’s inside, inside. You won't easily poke holes in it or be able to tear it if you accidentally push or poke the container. It allows us to keep our food and drinks safe and clean.
Making PE is somewhat more complicated for our environment. It uses stuff like oil from deep in the ground. PE does not disappear as quickly as a piece of paper when we stop using it. That’s a potential problem for our planet. But don't worry! We can help by recycling PE.
However, some companies are doing a lot of research into recycling PE. They take used plastic and make new stuff out of it. This helps in keeping our earth clean and saves resources. Each time we toss PE into our recycling bin, we’re helping our planet!
Not all PE is the same. Some PE is really strong and stiff, like the plastic that makes milk jugs. These are firm and hold their shape. Other PE can stretch a lot more, like the plastic used to make trash bags. Type of PE Special Job Each PE has a special job.
It is a wonderful plastic & serves us in numerous ways. It’s the stuff that holds our drinks, bends into pipes, and coats water tanks. Though PE are difficult to create forms of for our ecosystem, there are things we may do. We can do our part by recycling and being mindful.
