A lot of the stuff we use every day — bags, bottles, containers — comes from plastic. However, plastic is not good for our Earth. Certain types of plastic can take a very long time to degrade and vanish. It takes hundreds of year! Consequently plastic can remain in our environment for exceptionally long term, which is damaging for plants, and animals, and even us. As a result, we find a strong need to discover solutions that are less harmful to our habitats. Some of those better options are LDPE plastic that decompose naturally.
The LDPE plastic that decomposes is a type of special plastic. When exposed to the outside, it will degrade into biodegradable materials. This is good because it means that this kind of plastic is not hanging around for an extended period and is much safer for animals and plants. It can also be made with other materials instead of regular plastic. And there are ways to avoid it altogether, such as by using paper, bamboo, or cornstarch instead. Renewable resources are the name for such materials. It means that some can be grown and harvested over and over again, which helps protect our Earth.
Single-use plastic items are things such as straws, cups, forks and plates. These are single-use items we throw away. Most of these items are not recycled or reused so they can contribute significantly to the pollution of our environment. And when the LDPE plastic making single-use items is break-down-able, they can break down into natural materials rather than just languishing in a landfill for a really long time. What this means is, adopting LDPE plastic for these single-use products can be a good way to minimize the amount of waste we produce.
One problem we have using materials that decompose is how we dispose of them. Disposing of biodegradable materials properly is crucial. If we just toss them in normal trash, they won’t decompose properly. Which is why we should have good waste management. An excellent way to do this is by composting. With composting, you collect biodegradable materials to decompose naturally. Otherwise, the process transforms them into naturally occurring materials that assist in the fertilization of plants and helps them grow.
Composting is a great way to get rid of LDPE plastic that will decompose. As we compost these products, they break down into natural substances that can contribute to feeding and nourishing plants. It’s much better for the environment than sending these items to the landfill, where they will take eons to decompose. Composting also reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, which is a huge problem on our planet.
