LDPE plastic is extremely malleable and can be made into just about any form imaginable. One of the vocab words we learned this week was really strong. You may come across LDPE plastic in the home. Grocery store plastic bags are made from LDPE. It is often this plastic that keeps your lunch protected in food boxes. Some of your favorite toys could be made with LDPE plastic!
LDPE plastic is loved by companies because it can be manufactured in a variety of forms. LDPE is a plastic that dream: it can become a bag, a box, a container. The weight is very light, so we can carry it and move it easy. LDPE plastic is used to pack things and do not weigh much. This allows trucks and ships to transport additional items without requiring more fuel.
So LDPE plastic can be a huge problem for our planet. Unlike a piece of paper that disappers quickly, when we throw it away, it does not go far. That means the plastic can remain in the environment for a really long time. If this plastic is accidentally consumed by an animal, like a bird or fish, they can become very sick. This is why we need to be especially mindful about plastics use and disposal.
By recycling LDPE plastic, we can contribute to protecting our planet. Recycling is when they get old plastic and make it into new stuff. Recycling allows the plastic to be melted and remolded into things such as park benches and playground equipment or new plastic bags. This helps us make less trash and makes our earth cleaner and safer to live in!
People want to use LDPE plastic in ways that do not harm animals or the earth in the future. We can accomplish this by recycling more and being careful about how we use plastic. Plastic consumption can be reduced, new reusing methods can be developed, and plastic can be prevented from ending up in rivers, oceans and forests.
